Yesterday, Tom Barrett attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Palermo's $22 million expansion that will add 100,000 square feet to their headquarters and create 56 jobs in the Menomonee Valley. Palermo's Pizza is a proud Wisconsin manufacture of delicious premium pizzas that are sold across the United States. In 2006, thanks to Tom's leadership, Palermo's became the first Wisconsin business to develop a site in the redeveloped Menomonee Valley and with this expansion, Palermo's will now employ over 450 Wisconsinites.
The Menomonee Valley is one of Tom Barrett's greatest accomplishments as Mayor of Milwaukee. Prior to Palermo's arrival in 2006, the Menomonee Valley was Wisconsin's largest brownfield, but thanks to Tom and his leadership, this once blighted area has attracted dozens of businesses employing thousands of Wisconsin workers with good-paying, family supporting jobs.
In addition to creating jobs, the Menomonee Valley has won awards for its environmentally friendly storm water parks and has become a recreational haven for Wisconsin residents. Bikers, joggers and walkers use the Hank Aaron Trail, and anglers can enjoy one of the best urban fishing areas in the country according to Field & Stream magazine.
Tom Barrett has a plan to create jobs in this state and the record to show that he will be effective at creating jobs as Wisconsin's governor. Tom's opponents, on the other hand, lack any record of job creation and continue to avoid answering questions about how they plan to create jobs.
Congratulations to Palermo's on their continued success and for putting Wisconsin on the Pizza Map!
As a Palermo's aficionado, Tom Barrett recently filmed a video from Palermo's test kitchen where he declared his vote for the Slice in Palermo's epic battle between the Square and the Slice.
