Fighting for a Stronger Wisconsin

Protecting our Environment and Investing in Clean Energy Jobs

The goals of economic growth, environmental protection and energy reform have been viewed as mutually exclusive for too long in politics.

Tom Barrett understands that by capitalizing on the new wave of technologies, we can generate clean sources of energy right here in Wisconsin. This will create thousands of well-paying green jobs, lower energy costs for families and businesses alike, and will keep Wisconsin's energy dollars here and working for us – instead of shipping $16 billion a year to other states or foreign countries as we currently do.

Tom on a farmTom has a strong record of creating jobs and protecting the environment. In Milwaukee, Tom transformed the Menomonee Valley from one of Wisconsin's largest brown-fields into a thriving commercial and recreational center that supports thousands of jobs and activities for Wisconsin families.

Tom is committed to working to protect our lakes and waterways. He was a forceful proponent of the Great Lakes Compact, and he has always opposed efforts to drill for oil and gas in the Great Lakes. Tom is also a leader in efforts to keep Asian Carp and other invasive species out of our waterways.

Wisconsin has strong tradition of environmental protection and citizen participation. In keeping with this tradition, Tom supports the Department of Natural Resources Secretary being selected by the DNR Board.

Tom understands we must be guardians of our precious natural resources, and that our environmental treasures are an essential part of Wisconsin’s identity. Tom shares the belief that we are only temporary stewards of our environment, and that we have a moral obligation to our children and our grandchildren to protect it. As governor, Tom will work to preserve our lakes, rivers, beaches, forests, fields, parks, trails, and other natural resources that make Wisconsin a beautiful place to live, work, and play.
