More Job Loss Under Walker

Official, Nonpartisan Figures Show Wisconsin Lost 21,400 Jobs Over the Past 12 Months -- Worst in the Nation

MILWAUKEE -- Barrett for Wisconsin issued the following statement from Communications Director Phil Walzak on yet another set of official, nonpartisan statistics that show significant job loss under Gov. Scott Walker's failed leadership. Despite desperate attempts by Walker to change the conversation on his job loss, the Bureau of Labor statistics figures showed Wisconsin lost 21,400 jobs over the past 12 months -- by far the worst job performance of any state in the nation.

"With official news yesterday that Wisconsin under Walker's failed leadership lost 6,000 jobs in April, and lost 21,400 jobs over the past 12 months, it's obvious why Walker was so eager to distribute a different set of unverified figures from his own Administration: he is desperate to change the subject. Walker may not like the numbers, but he can't spin the numbers. And he can't expect Wisconsin to just take his word for it. The facts are crystal clear: as Walker launched an ideological civil war against Wisconsin, our state lost more jobs than any other state in the nation. That's unacceptable. We need a leader focused on jobs for Wisconsin families, not a politician waging a divide-and-conquer attack to become a national right wing rockstar. Tom Barrett will put Wisconsin first, and reverse our state's worst-in-the-nation job performance under Walker's failed agenda."
