RIGHT-WING ROCKSTAR: New Report Reveals Walker Spending More Time on His Political Career than on Doing His Job

MILWAUKEE – Barrett for Wisconsin issued the following statement today from Communications Director Phil Walzak on a stunning new report detailing how Gov. Walker’s official work time has declined as his celebrity status among the national wealthy right-wing power-brokers has grown.

“Scott Walker’s ideological civil war has made him a rockstar to the right-wing, and he has no doubt worked to cash in, raising staggering amounts of cash from mega-rich donors across the country. But as Walker has used his divide-and-conquer assault on Wisconsin values to build his fame with the national conservative elite, he continues to drop the ball on jobs. Under Walker’s failed leadership, Wisconsin lost more jobs than any state in the country over the past year. Instead of trying to pick up $250,000 checks from millionaire and billionaire right-wing donors, he should have been working on his campaign promise to create 250,000 jobs. Walker put his political career first, not Wisconsin, and our state continues to pay the price for his relentless political ambition.”

The report, researched and released by the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, found that “Walker’s official work schedule shrank in the fall and winter, when his calendars note less time spent meeting business leaders and staff, interviewing candidates for appointments and working on open records requests. Meanwhile, far more time was labeled “PERSONAL 1.” Such entries lacked other details, but news reports from those days describe Walker jet-setting around the country for fundraising and other political events…”
