Tom Barrett is the only candidate standing up for Wisconsin families and workers.

Tom Barrett is running for Governor to stand with Wisconsin's working and middle class families in these tough economic times.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Tom has his humble roots in our great state – he's lived here his entire life. He worked his way through college and law school at UW by working at County Stadium and Harley-Davidson. His wife Kris is a teacher, and they and their four children live in the same neighborhood Tom grew up in.

Wisconsin is facing serious challenges. Decisions made in Madison will determine whether future generations will be able to live in a Wisconsin of opportunity.

Tom will get our economy moving again, and create and attract more good jobs to Wisconsin. No other candidate matches Tom's record on jobs. He worked to:

  • Bring and retain 1,500 Republic Airways jobs to Wisconsin
  • Transform the Menomonee Valley from a desolate wasteland into a thriving business sector home to dozens of businesses and nearly 3,000 good jobs
  • Attract clean energy manufacturer Ingeteam and 275 jobs to Wisconsin
  • Bring train manufacturer Talgo to WI, which will anchor up to 1,000 more jobs
Tom will fix the $2 billion budget deficit in Madison by fighting for fiscal responsibility.
  • When faced with an unexpected shortfall in the City budget, Tom made the tough choices and cut $32 million to close the shortfall -- and he did it without saddling our children and grandchildren with more debt
  • His budgets have always been among the most responsible in the state – controlling spending, managing taxes and refusing to borrow
Under Tom Barrett's leadership, violent crime in Milwaukee has decreased by over 20% -- to its lowest levels in more than 20 years. He worked with law enforcement, community groups and residents to develop proactive strategies, and empowered the city's police department with strong leadership and the tools it needs to get the job done.

Tom knows we will overcome challenges, but it will take leadership committed to bringing people together. It will take putting aside petty partisan squabbles and extreme ideology. Tom knows that to solve problems we must find common ground, not draw lines in the sand. And he understands that we go farther when we go together.

These are the values he has followed his entire life.
Authorized and paid for by Barrett for Wisconsin, Catherine Shaw, Treasurer.
